  • The country outranked popular countries such as Italy, Japan, and New Zealand.
  • It posted a 90.63 score which was given by over 60,000 traveler-voters around the world

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines ranked 8th among the world’s top 20 favorite countries.

Travelers around the world voted for the country as one of the top favorite countries in the Conde Nast Traveler list released last October 8, 2019.

The country, whose islands like Boracay and Palawan were named as among the best in Asia by New York-based luxury and travel magazine, outranked popular destinations like Italy, Japan, and New Zealand.

Rounding up the countries in the top 10 are Portugal, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Peru, Greece, Italy, and Vietnam.

The Philippines garnered a score of 90.63 behind other countries such as Indonesia, the most favorite country; Thailand, Portugal, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Peru, and Greece. Other countries behind the Philippines are the Italy, Vietnam, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, Tanzania, Israel, Colombia, New Zealand, Ireland, Cambodia, and Croatia.

The Philippines was described as a country where travelers can pick their own private paradise in the idyllic archipelago.

 “From chic and luxurious to homely and tranquil: whatever your travel requirements, there’s a resort in the idyllic archipelago of the Philippines to suit you,” a report from a travel site read.

The same travel site also named Boracay Island as the best island in Asia, with Palawan ranking at 4th spot in the same category.

This recognition for the Philippines came after it was hailed by the World Travel Awards as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination for the very first time.

There were around 600,000 registered voters who participated in the Conde Nast’s survey on the Top 20 Countries of the World is part of the 32nd edition of the Readers’ Choice Awards. 

Conde Nast is a luxury travel publication that hosts a yearly Readers’ Choice Awards. Registered participants and subscribers cast their votes across different categories (best hotels, best resorts, best destinations, best islands, etc). -Travel Pinoy
